Getting started
What kinds of businesses do you build websites for?
I work with businesses across different industries, whether you need your first website or a fresh approach to an existing one. Tell me what you do and what you want your website to make easier, and we can discuss whether the project is a good fit.
I already have a website. Can you improve it?
Yes. We can review what you have and discuss a refresh or a rebuild, depending on the platform, the content, and what needs to change.
What do I need to provide?
Your service details, service area, contact information, and any logo or project photos you want to use. I’ll help organize the information and shape the wording. You don’t need to have everything ready for our first conversation.
How long does a website take?
The timeline depends on the number of pages, the features, and how much content is ready. We’ll agree on a target schedule before work begins. Time for your feedback and any connected services will be part of that discussion.
Design and content
Can you help with the wording and photos?
Yes, I can help organize your information and write clear website copy from the details you provide. Bring any photos or branding you already have. If more images are needed, we’ll discuss suitable options and any costs before including them.
Will my website work on phones?
I design layouts to adapt to phones, tablets, and desktop screens, and check representative screen sizes before launch. Text, navigation, and contact options should be comfortable to use on a smaller screen.
Will I see the design before it goes live?
Yes. You’ll review a draft and share feedback before launch. We’ll agree on the revision allowance as part of your project scope, then refine the words, layout, and details within that agreement.
Cost and ownership
What does a website cost?
Pricing depends on the pages and features you need. You’ll receive a written scope and quote before committing. Hosting, domain renewals, and optional maintenance will be explained separately.
Are there ongoing costs after the website is built?
There can be. A domain has a renewal cost, and hosting, business email, forms, booking tools, or other services may have separate charges. Any ongoing support from me is separate from those provider costs. We’ll review the costs that apply to your project before starting.
Can I own the finished website?
Yes. We’ll agree on the ownership and handoff arrangement before starting, including which accounts you’ll own and how future edits will be handled.
Features and editing
Can you add contact forms, booking, or online payments?
We can discuss those features as part of your project. The right setup depends on your needs and the services involved. I’ll confirm compatibility, accounts, setup, and any subscriptions or transaction fees before including a feature in your quote.
Will I be able to edit the website myself?
My websites are custom-coded, so a visual editing tool isn’t included by default. If you want to update your own text, photos, or posts, let me know before we start. We can explore an editing system as part of the scope and discuss its setup and ongoing costs.
After launch
What if I need changes after launch?
You can get in touch about new content, updated photos, or other changes. We’ll agree on the work and its cost before proceeding. If you want ongoing support, we’ll define what it includes, how requests are handled, and the fee separately.
Will it help me rank first on Google?
No one can guarantee a first-place ranking. A website can give customers useful information and an easy way to contact you. Search visibility also depends on competition, reviews, your business profile, and other factors.
